Pop Icon, Prince, Did Not Make a Will

POP superstar Prince passed away in April without making a will, a US court was told. As in England, an administrator has to be appointed to deal with the estate if the person died intestate.

His sister, Tyka Nelson, asked a Minnesota court to urgently appoint Bremer Trust, an affiliate of Prince’s bank, to manage the rock legend’s business interests.

Prince Rogers Nelson, whose hits include ‘Purple Rain’ and ‘When Doves Cry’, was found dead in a lift at Paisley Park Studios, where he lived and worked. He was 57.

As is sadly the norm in these celebrity cases, rumours about the cause of death and family rifts have already made the pages of tabloids worldwide. The size of the eccentric musician’s fortune is unclear but it’s sure to be a princely sum.

In England, the person’s next of kin can usually apply for a grant of representation to be the administrator of the estate.
